My Kitten....

So today my mother woke me up at 6a crying saying that she killed our kitten, Mittens. She said that there was blood everywhere! Apparently, my mother managed to close my kitten's head in our refrigerator door. So I cried too, because I love my Mittens, and went to the vet. Before we left, my mom said that there really was not blood, she just wanted me to go to the vet with her (sadistic, I know). Anyway, after a very stressful drive to the animal emergency hospital, the vet said that Mittens has a concussion, and that she needs to stay there overnight. We were told that she's believed to recover, but there's still going to be a small amount of brain damage. But then the day got better because I went on a picnic with my friends, though. Anyway, I just want you all to hope the best for my kitten, please!

KITTEN UPDATE!

After a very difficult few days, Mittens came out of her coma on Tuesday! We took her to the neurologist and she said that there was no sign of brain damage, but that she wouldn't be able to swallow for a very long time. The doctor recommended that we syringe feed her liquid food. While it was adorable at first, we grew tired of baby-feeding her and tried with the regular kitty "chow" (or, whatever it's called). And she was able to swallow! There are currently no signs of brain damage, and she has no broken bones or fractures. The only remaining effect from the accident is that after taking about ten or so steps, she tends to topple over. Some might say that that is sad, but I feel that it only adds to Mittens' endearing factor.
